Nothing Much

I haven't really blogged this last week mostly because we've done very little of note. We've left the house twice- once to go to Target, once to go to Wal-Mart. I haven't even cooked anything particularly interesting. No playdate this week due to illness. :( We're counting on next week.
It's very cold here- 20s, 30s...and predicted teens the next couple of nights. It's been sunny so far and clear so at least there's no ice to contend with. We'd NEVER leave the house then.

Unfortunately, Frazier is still coughing and has a runny nose, but seems to be a little better everyday and since he hasn't run a fever in a week and a half I guess he's on the mend...albeit VERY slowly. He seems happy enough most of the time so I'm not worried. Just really tired of the snot...mine and his. :)
He's not napping well or sleeping as good through the night because of the congestion and coughing which is frustrating. Fortunately, we have a doctor's appointment next week anyway.
I think that while it's hard to believe Frazier is almost 6 MONTHS old, he does suddenly seem much older in the last few weeks. I look at him sometimes and he seems like a whole different baby somehow. He's increasingly mobile (read: diaper and clothes changes are now a challenge and a half sometimes). He doesn't quite crawl, but does manage to scoot and roll ALL over the floor and I no longer trust him alone for a second in his bouncy seat or the Bumbo (which we have to wedge him into now anyway) because I think he might could escape from both.
Dexterity has gotten incredibly good- he can grab, hold on to and play with things with such ease now- turning, shaking, pushing, examining. He's lots of fun to play with these days. He's very interested in books, and though that really isn't anything new- the wanting to hold them himself is! Also of interest- noses...and the reactions people make to having theirs squeezed! (See picture below.)
We're going to start some cereal next week or the week after (more on solids later). I was waiting for six months- which would be next week, but now I'm waiting until he starts feeling really good again. We've been spending a lot of time in our highchair in preparation. He sits up great in it and can sit up alone for short periods of time on the floor (a new development this week!)
Had to get a picture of this...the sock monkey and the thumb in the mouth all at once...best of both worlds. :)
